Banking
The banks in Cyprus offer a good range of banking services in both Cyprus pounds, and in foreign currencies.
Cyprus banks are full members of SWIFT (the Society for Worldwide Interbank Financial Telecommunication) . The banking system is based on UK banking law and practice and commercial banks are supervised by the Central Bank of Cyprus.
Cyprus Currency
The currency of Cyprus is the Cyprus pound - CY£, which is divided into 100 cents.
Banknotes and coins currently in use:
Notes: C£20, C£10, C£5, C£1.
Coins: 50 cents, 20 cents, 10 cents, 5 cents, 2 cents, 1 cents.
The Cyprus pound is not traded internationally. Commercial Banks will quote daily exchange rates for the Cyprus pound against all major foreign currencies.

Banks are closed at weekends and on public holidays and Easter Tuesday. Christmas Eve is a working day for banks.
